Anti Ageing Skin Cream has to be your main Skin Care Product.
If the truth be told, no-one wants to look old so it is not surprising that one of the largest markets in the world of health and beauty is anti-ageing skin care products. The anti-ageing skin care industry uses products that increase the synthesis of the protein collagen, the main protein in skin which becomes less elastic as we age. Collagen is related to other Substances called anti-oxidants which help reduce the anti-ageing process.
Although the benefits of vitamin C (an anti-oxidant) are well documented, it is still debated as to what our daily amount should be. Skin care treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.
Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. These recent anti-oxidant products do not perform as well as vitamin C, though other natural compounds, vitamin E and lipoic acid can have the same overall effect.
The body uses vitamin E as an anti-oxidant and is also used to increase the natural defense we have against disease, including many types of cancer, it is a fat soluble vitamin in people’s blood. It’s function is to provide energy and reverse much of the damage caused to the skin by ageing.
Phyto-chemicals form another major category of anti-ageing skin care products which consist of unique chemicals that are derived from a wide variety of plants that are used in skin care today. A secondary but more important use of phytochemicals is the effect they have on the prevention of breast, prostate and colon cancers.
Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti-ageing skin care products. This just goes to highlight just how complex and far reaching the whole field of anti-ageing skin care products is and why so much more research is required.
While a great deal has been learned about this subject, it is only the tip of the iceberg and more long term effective methods need to be discovered to reverse or slow down the effects of time. Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and better and cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be produced.
However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement. So, drinking plenty of water, getting a good night’s sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are essential means of delaying the ageing process.
